Advice Needed (Random)

Can you imagine how much better these pictures would be if they were in focus, or the flash had worked properly?
What else is there to focus on in this picture (above)??

I am really frustrated with my camera. I have taken TONS of pictures that are terrible. Granted, I am no expert, and partly the issue could be me, but I didnt have this problem with my previous camera...I have basically had the same one since 2004, and I wore it out last spring. I bought almost the same model soon after, on sale b/c its megapixels (4.0) are so behind these days, but it does not take the same quality pictures as the older one that broke...all that to say, I am looking for other options. (JUST LOOKING. I'm saving my pennies.) Does anyone have any advice on a great, everyday use camera for not too much $$$?? Really, all I need is a "point-and-shoot", but would love to find a camera with manual focus with more options for creativity.

I'm not a professional photographer, obviously, but I take thousands of pictures a year, and would like them to be better quality. I feel ungrateful posting about this - at least I have a camera! - but, this is what I love doing...

So, anyone that has a camera (digital) they would recommend or if you know of any good options, please leave a comment below!

PS- Check out our friend KJ's new blog. I love his post about the controversial movie, The Golden Compass (though we havent seen it yet).

Hi Casey! It's me, Ryan, from Kicks Days...I was wondering through some Blogs via Beth and Jon's and found yours. I wanted to lend some advice on the camera issue; if you opt to buy a new one, check out Ebay...they will sell refurbished really nice cameras for a fraction of the price. I just bought one for my mother, and she loves it, and it takes crisp really nice pictures!!
I hate that the first communications I have made has been all about cameras! Lily is beautiful! you seem to be very happy! I am glad to see it! Hope I was of at least some help! ~ RYAN

Hi! Living in Charleston, and see Erin every day! WOW! A Kicks reunion would be AWESOME!!! One of these days I will post a blog too! They are neat and I feel like I have been with friends through major steps in their lives and watched as their children grow; even though some of these people I have not seen in years! Its an amazing way to keep connected across the world really!

Hi! I live in TN too! I'm a friend of Beth's. I had to comment on your posting because Photography is my hobby. I currently use a Sony Cybershot (http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Cybershot-DSC-N2-Digital-Optical/dp/B000DZKNM2/ref=pd_bbs_12?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1197870952&sr=8-12). I LOVE it and it works great! Now I'm working on the Nikon!!
